As the global energy markets shift to renewables and the clean energy sector is bustling with job opportunities, it is imperative to address gender gaps. Though supportive environments alongside opportunities for women, countries can accelerate their clean energy transitions and foster inclusive societies.

Join us as we explore both the barriers and opportunities for women in the Global South and Global North clean energy sector, with our panel of practitioners and policymakers. Informed by a recent Oxford University report on Empowering Women: A case study from Pakistan, we will discuss the current landscape and experiences. Taking into consideration the policies, strategies, and actions required to support women in driving the energy transition and advancing gender equality.

Context

SSE plc has grant-funded a 3-year research project at Oxford University on the challenges and associated solutions to accelerate the clean energy transition through a developer lens, and with focus on the developing world.

Developers are the bridge between financiers not finding projects, and projects not finding money.Their ability to identify, structure, build and operate successful projects is key to unlocking  renewables and scaling up investment.

Research findings are disseminated and discussed at public events and made available online after.
